Publisher review:
Concerto is a digital assets management tool written in PHP. Concerto is a digital assets management tool written in PHP and built on top of the Harmoni Application Framework. Concerto uses Harmoni's implementation of the Open Knowledge Initiative Open Service Interface Definitions for its repository back-end. Concerto consists of collections and exhibitions. Collections are archives of assets that are accessible via user interfaces for searching and browsing. Exhibitions are groups of slideshows that allow users to present assets from various collections in a particular order with specific annotations. Concerto allows the storage, cataloguing, and retrieval of media of all types. It does this by using the abstract concept of an Asset. At their most basic level, Assets are objects that have a title, description, and any number of data or metadata records.Users of Concerto (with appropriate authorization) can create annotated slideshows from any asset in Concerto that they can see. Slides in a slideshow may be text-only, contain an asset (with or without displaying its metadata), or contain both an asset and an additional annotation. Slideshows are the prefered way of presenting a series of assets to one's audience as slideshows allow for complete control over the ordering and amount of text shown to the audience. Exhibitions are simply groups of slideshows. Slideshows can be browsed as well as displayed windowed or full-screen.Features: - Store arbitrary file types - Catalog assets using standard metadata schemas such as Dublin Core or VRA Core - Catalog assets using custom metadata schemas - Arrange assets hierarchically - Define authority lists of allowed values for fields in any schema - Generate thumbnails and resized versions of all image types supported by ImageMagick - Presentation-quality slideshow viewer - Search in multiple ways, keyword, title, pick from authoritative values - View search results the slideshow viewer - Create annotated slideshows from assets in many collections - File data is stored in the database to ease maintenance and prevent unauthorized access - Batch importing - Batch importing of XML, tab-delimited, or EXIF metadata - Control access and editing authorization via hierarchical authorizations - Populate users and groups manually or via LDAP - Authenticate against the local database or LDAP
